Abstract
The paper deals with the political life and career of Archibald Philip Primrose, V Earl of Rosebery, during the end of the 1800 and the begin of 1900. He was a Whig and a member of the Liberal party in the House of Lords. Subsequently, he was part of the cabinet of William Gladstone as Foreign Affairs Secretary, in 1886. He became Prime Minister in 1894, because of Queen Victoria will, who trusted a lot in his abilities. He realized before his contemporaries the big challenges of the new century for the British Empire and the need for relevant transformations of British political system.
