Abstract
This paper aims to give a broad overview of the scientificfindings related to Age-related hearing impairment that is acomplex disorder, with both environmental as well as geneticfactors contributing to the impairment. The involvement ofseveral environmental factors has been partially elucidated. Afirst step towards the identification of the genetic factors hasbeen made, which will result in the identification of susceptibilitygenes, and will provide possible targets for the future treatmentand/or prevention of ARHI.
