Abstract
Several linear synchronous generators forthe exploitation of sea wave energy have been proposed.Such machines do not require reactive power for themagnetization since they use permanent magnets for theexcitation. The use of permanent magnets in a roughenvironment such as the marine environment may be avery weak point in the application of these kind ofdevices. In order to overcome this difficulty, the authorsin this paper propose a linear synchronous electricalgenerator. Its excitation uses ferrites as suitable solutionsto extract energy from sea waves. This paper describesthe analysis and design of an improved axially magnetizedtubular permanent-magnet machine in which severalinnovative constructive solutions have been carried out tobuild a low cost, easy to assemble and robust machine. AFerrite Tubular Linear Permanent Magnet Generatorprototype has been made. Several simulation results areshown illustrating the system response to various outputs, including externally applied loads.
