The solidification behaviour of polymers under conditions that occur during processes like injection moulding can be studied using the Continuous Cooling Transformation (CCT) procedure developed at the University of Palermo. A set of 3 samples, 2 different PPA’s and PA46 (reference), will be studied in a wide range of cooling rates, viz. 1-1000 °C/s, using this procedure. The structure and properties of the so-obtained samples will be determined by means of density and WAXD (wide angle X-ray diffraction) measurements. To facilitate sample preparation, DSC experiments will be carried out to check degradation and its influence on crystallization so far this information is not readily available from DSM.
