Territorial defence led to extraordinary results in terms of forming and transformingthe territory and landscape, at times with spectacular sights and incrediblesizes. The one hundred year anniversary since the beginning of the First World Waroffered a hint for reflecting on the spin-offs on the landscape, caused by the warand more in general by the defensive structures and their relation with the surroundinglandscape.
