Abstract

Biography of Enrico Rosso, count of Aidone, protagonist of the political life of Messina in the central years of the fourteenth century. A man of restless, ambiguous and calculating temperament, Rosso found himself swinging between Latins and Catalans, the two partialities that divided the island, between fidelity and rebellion against the royal power. The exclusion from the collective vicariate weighed on his actions.
