Abstract

A significant exemplification of portraits of Sicilian aristocrats of the modern age is proposed. Among the late sixteenth-century portraits are those commissioned by Cardinal Ludovico II Torres.Other emblematic portraits, explaining fashion, costume and the richness of 17th century jewellery, are those of the Branciforti family from Francesco's wife, Giovanna d'Austria, to Ercole, Fabrizio and Giuseppe Branciforti.
