Abstract

This essay describes the setting mode of the research work on the central "Tifeo" in Augusta (SR) conducted by the Department of Architecture of the University of Palermo and in cooperation with ENEL. The research was aimed at the definition of a basic research for the feasibility study of the recovery of the Central Augusta, with the aim of defining some possible design scenarios within which to act, including through specific architectural projects.The working hypothesis around which we have moved, which was founded on the methodological approach adopted by the Ph.D. in Architectural Design over time, considers the architectural design not as an end, but above all as an instrument for its ability of creating a critical movement towards the surveys and historical-critical studies, and the understanding of the meanings of the architectural work undergoing a restoration process.
