Abstract

[automatically translated] Producing a digital soil map of Sicily (1: 250,000) quantitative, that combined the traditional approach with a CLORPT deterministic model, and introducing important factor in the geomorphological processes was the purpose of research. 1,532 soil profiles (1,363 analyzed) were collected from bibliographers and from previous surveys. A card physiographic of Sicily has been designed for photo interpretation and consultation 54 published works on geomorphology. Other information geographers that have been collected: a geological map of Sicily, the land use map Corine 2000 and the previous version of the soil map of Sicily. The bank geographers ca data from land subsystems (1: 250,000) was obtained by crossing and generalizing the data we geographers. Each polygon subsystem of land has been completed with the information on the territorial components: combinations characteristics of physical geography, lithology and land use, and surface they occupied. Each soil profile has been assigned to the territorial component of semantic membership, based on its physical geography, lithological substrate and land use at the time of the survey. The spatial components of the major surface and free of soil information, have been chosen for the soil survey GIS-oriented. 1,400 soil profiles were described in those windows, of which 700 analyzed. The total of 2,932 soil profiles were correlated in 139 of soil typological unit (STU), with the Soil Regions and the WRB classification as grouping criteria. The probability of the presence of each UTS in the territorial components of the subsystems of lands and then in its delineations was calculated. The predictive ability of each geographical layer was evaluated considering its discriminating power: the geological map and physiographic paper were the most predictive.
