The book illustrates the drawings corpus of the Basile Collection, preserved, conserved and cataloged at the Department of Architecture. It contains: a presentation of all the documents relating to the same Collection; two essays releted to Giovan Battista Filippo and Ernesto Basile; an extensive documentation, complete with indexing of drawings, photographs and books; an appendix regarding particular aspects of the various activities of the designers (especially Ernesto), prepared by young researchers who have helped to catalog the archive materials.Beyond the documentary value and usefulness of a tool that shows the consistency and quality of the collection (making it accessible to researchers and students), the catalog summarizes - intelligently - not only the professional and scientific activities of the two architects but shows, also, how both have influenced the Italian and European architectural culture and how they have been, in turn, influenced.The book is, therefore, an appropriate tool for the dissemination of Basile Collection through which documents - that were carefully sorted and cataloged - are transformed from material of archive into material of study.
