Paesaggi urbani costieri. Voci discordanti e interessi comuni

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingForeword/postscript

Abstract

This contribution highlights the research-action program on the general theme of urban regeneration presented in the volume which in part collects the selection of the interventions carried out at a conference on December 16, 2016, in the Rectorate, Palazzo Chiaramonte Steri. Other scientific and design contributions were integrated into the selection of the conference contributions, attesting to the dynamics of transformation of the eastern coastal coast in Palermo also to demonstrate empirically that even in particularly complex local contexts it is possible to carry out a correct territorial animation well if well organized and focused on achieving precise and at least partially achievable objectives. The construction of the port of S. Erasmo is the concretization of a research-action process matured since the 2016 conference and constitutes the start of a longer completion process that will gradually involve the entire coast. The recovery of the coast of Palermo is intended as a case study to be interpreted as an opportunity to reflect on the methods of intervention in the coastal strips of large Mediterranean cities within the framework of the broader debate on the value of the landscape in Italy and in Europe.
