The essay examines the production of decorative arts, in particular precious jewellery, in Sicily and Naples during the reign of Charles of Bourbon (Charles VII of Spain, Charles V of Sicily, later Charles III of Spain), analysing court portraiture and the close links between the jewellery of the period and fashion.
