    Abstract

[automatically translated] With this work is to verify if changes have occurred associated with the global financial crisis in operational decisions, strategic and relevant nature of the offer of the particular category of financial intermediary represented by local banks. It will try to see if the latter type of intermediary, leveraging their strengths related to the territorial dimension of the strategic choices focused on the philosophy of relationship lending that acts as a reference value the customer and consequently the availability of an information portfolio on much broader customer requirements has been able to offer customers advanced corporate financial services such as the private equity and venture capital (generally grouped under the heading "finance for innovation"). In case of a hit local banks would be able to abandon the identity of operators specialized in the activity of traditional lending (mainly single business) and oriented more towards the physiognomy of diversified financial intermediaries in the securities intermediation sectors. If no, please try to focus on the major cultural and organizational criticality matrix that these banks should overcome in order to gain a competitive advantage in the financial sectors of investment banking and merchant banking. The first step of this analysis will be to bring a brief review of the literature, both Italian and foreign which will help you better understand what is meant when we speak of technological districts and when using the "financial innovation" expression and particularly "merchant banking" and "private equity." After this brief review of the second step will be to analyze the evolution of the Italian private equity in the financial sector in the period 2006-2008 mainly describing aspects of the demand for such financial transactions regarding the underlying reasons that explain the need of an contact an outside investor, the geographical location decisions of firms that have approached this financial sector that is their territorial, sectoral, size and income. The third step will consist of a comparative analysis between the local banks operating in the four regions of the leading private equity market (Lombardy, Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna and Veneto) by calculating financial ratios relating the main operating profiles of these banks (structure, solvency, risk of claims, profitability by rationalizing costs efficiency and staff productivity). The fourth step will consist of an econometric analysis of panel data on a sample of local banks operating in the Italian regions that host the technological districts.
