Since opening on May 17, 1992, Pointe-à- Callière, the Montreal Museum of Archaeology and History, had the mission to promote a greater awareness of historical and archaeological knowledge of Montreal through education, conservation and research activities that gravitate around the cultural heritage of the city, in addition to building alliances with regional, national and international, for the benefit of the public. Société du Musée d'Archéologie et d’histoire de Montréal, Pointe-à-Callière, ensures that mission was conducted, guidelines and directs management policies. Board of Trustees consists of fifteen members representing the city, private companies, various institutions in Montreal, a lot of communities and families. Built over the ruins of Montréal birthplace, Pointe-à-Callière is the only major museum in Canada that celebrates local history and international heritage and regularly organizes educational and cultural activities, having a very active research center.
