This paper aims to fit into the scientific debate on Italian territorial re-organization. This paper focuses on the case of GAL (Local Action Group): a bottom up governance system, linked to LAEDER approach, called to handle the local rural development. This work takes into account the Elimos GAL which has enhanced the rural and touristic development of an inner sicilian area. By using a geographic approach, this study analyses the GAL’s Local Development Plan and evaluates the achievement of strategic goals.
