Abstract

[automatically translated] The use of digital models for the study and the foreshadowing of architecture has become in the last twenty years, a practice which can be considered established; digital models have opened up new prospects also to historical research, especially if conducted on crumbling artifacts. In some cases, the digital model is an effective solution to the foreshadowing of projects never realized, or for the virtual anastylosis of lost buildings; the scientific validity of such models is closely linked to the consistency of the reconstruction methods used, a systematic use of documentary sources and validation of previous hypothetical reconstructions. This paper proposes two reconstructive hypotheses about Castellammare di Palermo, the monument of which only a few ruins because of demolitions carried out in 1922.
