The number of female franciscan settlements in Sicily in the 13th and 14th centuries is limitedand the reconstruction of the history of the few existing monasteries is complicated by the lackof documents shared by most of them. This is the case of the monastery of Santa Chiara of PiazzaArmerina. Its 14th century history, from the foundation, it seems to be shrouded in oblivion.The paper, according to the few documents found, aims to clarify certain elements related to itsfoundation by William Caldarera baron of Bifara and Favarotta.
