If it is possible to hypothesize that the main theme of Miracles of Val Morel by Dino Buzzati is that of belief, in reality it is not only the expression of a blind and unconditional faith, but an enlargement of the perspective in a universal belief, declined in all its aspects, from the religious truths to those of the chronicles, from the truths of literature to those of painting, from the inner truths based on the bodily sensible to the objective ones reconstructed on the basis of the visual and verbal documentation. In particular, Buzzati is not so much the belief, in its universal meaning, as the crisis of belief, that undecidable moment in which adherence to the truth is so much more ostentatious - the ex voto are the witness of the miracle occurred - how strongly criticized - first of all through an indicative procedure. The different parts of the work are used as verbal and visual documentation put at the service of the ascertainment of the gnoseological truth as well as religious. The paper aims on the analysis of the narrative voice of the captions, halfway between magical realism and folklore literature, between the art catalog and the collection of short stories.
