Abstract

[automatically translated] Every year in Italy 30 children aged between 0 and 15 years, suffering from Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) start dialysis treatment with peritoneal dialysis and about 10 are subjected for the first time hemodialysis. This article traces a profile of the current epidemiological situation of dialysis and kidney transplants in Italy, highlighting the current conditions of quality of life of children undergoing replacement treatment of renal function, in comparing the two different practices (hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis ). These elements are analyzed in relation to the stress experienced by the "caregiver" reference and assistance offered by medical and nursing staff.
