The paths of visions undertaken by the twenty-two photographers collected in this volume cross, in a heterogeneous and authentic way, the tortuous paths of the anthropological concept of non-place, coined by Marc Augé in 1992, as an ahistorical, non-relational and non-identity space as they are to be understood. the ruins, the new media, the department stores, the open spaces, the affected bodies, the means of public transport, the deserted villages. Each of the proposed visions is a transit, an imaginal passage that reflects in varying degrees some characteristics of modern global society: the lack of concrete social relations, the proliferation of states of solitary individualism and abandonment, the transience of things and people, the convulsive craving for consumption, incommunicability in perennial connection, the ubiquity of the virtual elsewhere in real spaces, the eternal present without memory and projection, the speed without landing dimension, the uninhabiting of any place, even one's own home and own life.
