Il convento di San Domenico a Cagliari. Note e documenti.

Abstract

[automatically translated] Founded in Villanova di Cagliari district by Pisan Dominicans in the second half of the thirteenth century, the convent of San Domenico reached its peak in the sixteenth century as a result of ambitious building programs implemented under the impulse of the Aragonese king. Reconstructing these events today is particularly difficult because of the dispersion of documents and destruction of a considerable part of the factory. The article therefore intends to retrace the history of the monastery by making direct reference to recent documentary acquisitions and based on the information contained in some Dominican chronicles of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, in an attempt to make a contribution to the understanding of the history of the factory.
