Abstract

[automatically translated] Il Foglio 608 "Caccamo" of the Geological Map of Italy at 1: 50,000 scale was created as part dl Carg Project with funding from the Law 67/88 by agreement between the National Geological Survey (now Ispra) and the Sicilian Region. The area of the sheet falls in the province of Palermo and extends over part of the Sicilian northern ridge. The geological map is the result of the execution of the original reliefs that have affected more than two-thirds of the area and the revision of some surveys carried out in the 80s and 90s by researchers at the University of Palermo. The original surveys and revisions were collected and plotted on topographic sections to a scale of 1:10. 000 of the CTR made available by the Sicilian Region which also provided aerial surveys on which were conducted morphostructural analysis. For the realization of the detection has operated as prescribed by POL and in accordance with the instructions of the Notebooks of APAT (Ispra). The Quaternary deposits were mapped accurately by applying the rules issued by the National Geological Service. They have mapped the areas affected by major instability phenomena and movements gravitational deep slope. The criterion adopted in different phases of detection and cartographic revision is based on the need for immediate feedback on the ground dlle various lithologies and tectonic elements, taking into account the analysis of facies carbonate and siliciclastic, which helped to identify the Paleozoic-Cenozoic sequences from different crustal paleodomini. These geological bodies are now on display in the Sicilian chain to form a stack of units' tectonic. For the spatial definition of these bodies we have been used together 'stratigraphic-structural. The sheet "Caccamo" reliefs also interpretation Youths of nets in multi-channel seismic reflection profiles crossing the western part of the same sheet. The anal stratigraphic was integrated sites with sequence stratigraphic analysis methodologies. For the spatial definition of these bodies we have been used together 'stratigraphic-structural.
