Abstract

On the ground of the critical edition by G. M. Rinaldi (2012) of Antonio Veneziano’s Libro delle rime siciliane, which contained a thorough analysis of ms. PR10, this article offers some new considerations about the overall structure of the canonical collection, and highlights for the first time the rhetorical strategies of an encrypted nominatio of a beloved woman, lyrical counterpoint to the more famous Celia sung in «Libru primu», which makes its appearance in a cycle of fourteen canzuni within the «Libru secundu» and then in the related section of the poems of «Sdegnu».
